If you are a fan of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” then you know all about Magnolia Market/The Silos in Waco, Texas. I’ll openly admit my huge girl crush for Joanna Gaines. She inspires me in so many ways – career, mother, wife, eye for detail & design and not to mention her hair is always PERFECT! Chip compliments with humor and odd charm (#demoday)
My husband and I have watched Fixer Upper since day one and always look forward to new episodes. We even saw them speak at the Cleveland Home and Garden expo a few years back! Since we traveled to Texas to celebrate Christmas with family members in Frisco (less than 2 hours from Waco) we knew this was our opportunity for a great family outing.
Here are some of my favorite moments from the Silos!
It was a grey, chilly day in Waco on December 23rd, but it didn’t stop us! Our first checkmark was taking a group photo under the #MilestoMagolia sign – for Brian and I it was 1,265 miles. Then we started from the back and worked our way up. After scoping the lawn area, we made our way to Magnolia Seed & Supply. I want to build up my garden in the spring, so I purchased a couple packs of herb seeds and snapped ideas that I can mirror later.
Next we went into Magnolia Market where you can purchase all of the items from their empire along with their favorite local suppliers (Jimmy Don metal signs for example). I am not kidding when I say I wanted EVERYTHING in this store – home décor, kitchen, Tshirts, accessories, perfume, handbags, paper products, paint, candles and more! Chip even has his own little corner. The prices are a bit high, but you are paying for quality and they are still small enough to be considered “boutique” and unique items. We meandered our way through the warehouse and if you shopped too much, they conveniently have a FedEx shipping station (dangerous!) Since we had already spent so much on Christmas shopping, we shopped smart and knew out “must have” items; One being metal sign to hang in our home. We chose “grow old along with me, the best is yet to be” and my husband bought me a cookbook – Honey & Jam. I loved this book because it details each season with tips & tricks.
Lastly (and my favorite part) was sampling from Magnolia Flour/Silos Baking Company. Obviously I get excited about bakeries, but this one made me happily grin. We sampled (4) cupcakes: Campfire, Cup O’ Jo, Strawberries N Cream and Silobration. THEY WERE DELICIOUS! My favorite, hands down, was the Campfire – a nice spin off a s’mores classic. They have picnic tables next to the lawn area where you can sit and enjoy the scenery. My sister-in-laws loved the lawn games and giant swing set! If you are hungry, they have five different food trucks that line the perimeter of the lawn area for quick food options. They really have thought of it all!
If you are within driving range of Magnolia Market, GO! Even if you are not an avid viewer of the show, it is so much fun for all ages!
